Shipping Configuration

Shipping is how your orders get from you to your customers. You get two ways to do it, and you can mix them however you like:

Delivery zones - You ship to the customer and charge a delivery fee.
Pickup locations - The customer comes to you to collect the order.

This guide covers both in full: the exact steps to set them up, how to pick which areas each one covers, and what your customers actually see at checkout.

The Shipping Page

Go to Settings → Shipping. At the top you’ll see two tabs: Delivery and Pickup. You manage each type on its own tab, and each tab has its own Add button.

Below the tabs is a grid of zone cards. Each card is one delivery zone or pickup location. New zones start as an empty card; you fill it in and save.

Delivery Zones

A delivery zone covers a set of locations and carries a shipping fee. “Lagos Island”, “All of Nigeria”, “Abuja”, “Ikeja & Shomolu” are all examples of delivery zones.

Add a delivery zone

Make sure you’re on the Delivery tab.
Click Add Zone. A new card appears and the page scrolls to it.
Fill in the fields (details below).
Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

Delivery zone fields

Zone name (required) - What the zone is called. This is the name customers see at checkout, so make it recognizable, like “Lagos Mainland” or “Lagos Island”.
Fee (₦) (required) - What you charge for delivery to this zone. Set it to 0 for free delivery. Can’t be negative.
ETA (optional) - How long delivery takes, like “1-2 Days”. Customers see this at checkout.
Locations - Which areas the zone covers. See Assigning Locations below.
Active switch - Turns the zone on or off without deleting it.

What if I don’t pick any locations?

Leave a zone’s locations empty and it becomes your catch-all. It applies to any address not covered by your other zones.

This is deliberate, and it’s how you build a safe baseline. Set one zone with no locations at a higher fee, then add specific zones with better prices for areas you deliver to more cheaply. Anywhere your specific zones don’t reach falls back to the catch-all.

On the card, an empty-location zone shows a badge that says it applies everywhere, so you always know which zone is the fallback.

Pickup Locations

A pickup location is where customers collect their orders in person. It has an address and optional instructions, and it can be free or carry a small fee.

Add a pickup location

Switch to the Pickup tab.
Click Add Pickup. A new card appears.
Fill in the fields (details below).
Click Save Changes at the bottom.

Pickup location fields

Zone name (required) - The name of the location, like “Main Street Store” or “Ikeja Branch”.
Pickup address (required) - The full address customers go to, like “12 Main Street, Ikeja, Lagos”.
Instructions (optional) - Anything customers need to know, like “Open Mon-Sat, 9am-6pm. Ask for the pickup counter.” Customers see this when they choose this pickup option.
Fee (₦) - What you charge for pickup, usually 0. Leave it at 0 for free pickup.
Availability (optional) - Opening hours or days, like “Mon-Sat, 9am-6pm”.
Locations - Optional. Only add locations if the pickup point serves specific areas (say you have stores in Ikeja and Victoria Island, each its own pickup location).
Active switch - Turns the pickup location on or off.

Assigning Locations

Click Add Locations on any zone card to open the location picker. This is where you tell Mafflle which areas a zone covers.

The Nigeria tab

All 36 states and the FCT are listed, and each state expands to its local government areas (LGAs).

Check a state to cover the whole state.
Expand a state and check individual LGAs to cover only specific areas.
Search by name or code. Typing “LA” finds Lagos.

Checking a state also checks all its LGAs. Checking an individual LGA while the state is checked narrows the selection down. The picker handles the back-and-forth for you.

All of Nigeria

At the top of the Nigeria tab there’s an All of Nigeria checkbox. One click covers the entire country. This is the easiest way to make a nationwide delivery zone.

The International tab

Switch to International for country-level coverage. Each country shows its flag, and you check whole countries. Use this for stores that ship outside Nigeria.

Auto-named zones

When you pick locations, Mafflle suggests a name for you: “Nigeria”, “Lagos”, “Ikeja & Shomolu”, “Lagos (except Ikorodu)”, that sort of thing. You can keep it or type your own. Once you type your own name, later location changes won’t overwrite it.

“Also in…” badges

If a location is already used by another zone of the same type, the picker shows a small “Also in [zone name]” note on it. That’s not a warning. It just tells you that the area already has coverage somewhere else, in case you’re trying to set up tiered options. You’re free to add it anyway.

How Mafflle Picks a Zone at Checkout

This is the part worth understanding, because it decides who sees what price.

When a customer enters their location, Mafflle finds every zone that covers it, then shows the most specific one. “Ikeja” beats “Lagos”, and “Lagos” beats “All of Nigeria”.

Here’s a concrete example with three delivery zones:

A customer in Ikorodu sees the ₦1,500 zone (most specific match).
A customer in Surulere (Lagos, not Ikorodu) sees the ₦2,000 Lagos zone.
A customer in Abuja, or anywhere your zones don’t cover, sees the ₦3,000 catch-all.

The most specific matching zone is the one that applies.

Multiple rates for the same location

You can assign the same location to more than one zone. That’s not a mistake, it’s how you offer choices.

Create two zones, both covering Ikorodu:

“Ikorodu Standard Delivery” at ₦1,000
“Ikorodu Express Delivery” at ₦3,000

A customer in Ikorodu sees both options side by side at checkout and picks the one they want. Mafflle even marks the most specific match with a Recommended badge.

Delivery and pickup don’t fight

A delivery zone covering all of Nigeria and a pickup location covering all of Nigeria can coexist. They’re separate groups. At checkout, customers see a Delivery Options section and a Store Pickup Options section, and pick one.

What customers see

At checkout, after the customer picks their location, the matching options appear as selectable cards:

The zone name and the fee (shown as “Free” when it’s 0)
The ETA or availability underneath, if you set one
A Recommended badge on the most specific match
Delivery options and pickup options as separate sections

If nothing matches and there’s no catch-all zone, customers are told no delivery is available for their location and can’t place the order. Keep a catch-all zone if you want to avoid that.

Managing Zones

Reordering

Use the up and down arrows on a zone card to change its order. Reordering saves instantly, no need to click anything else.

Deleting a zone

Click the trash icon on a zone card. You’ll get a confirmation dialog. After you confirm, the zone disappears and you get 5 seconds to undo. If you don’t undo, the deletion is permanent. No Save Changes needed.

If the zone was brand new and empty, it’s removed immediately with no dialog.

Turning a zone off

Each zone has an Active switch. Switch it off to hide the zone from checkout without deleting it. Customers just stop seeing it. Flip it back on to bring it back.

Saving changes

Adding or editing a zone needs a Save Changes click at the bottom of the page. Reordering and deleting save themselves.

One thing to know: all your unsaved edits save together when you click Save Changes. And a zone card shows a small Unsaved tag when it has changes that haven’t been saved yet, so you can spot them.

Free Delivery

Set a zone’s fee to 0 for free delivery. Pickup locations default to 0. At checkout, a 0 fee shows as Free for the customer.

Plan on Shipping

Shipping is available on all plans. There’s no extra cost for setting up delivery zones or pickup locations.
